Values, Employee Experience: Competing for talent
Wagada is a results-driven digital marketing agency and a Google and Hubspot partner. The company has seen huge growth since its inception in 2011. Originally set up as a Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) specialist, from the Founder’s kitchen table, the company is now multi-award winning and employs a growing team across two locations.
Digital marketing is an area where strong skills are key and competition for the best talent is fierce. Being located close to London meant that Wagada was competing with the big digital marketing agencies for employees. Keen to overcome this and to use Wagada’s ethos of being ‘an agency that cares’ as its point of difference, the Founder, Cheryl Luzet, engaged Culture Chameleon to articulate this through a clear set of Values.
What we did
The definition of Wagada’s Values formed the starting point of a wider focus on Wagada’s culture. The Values are written in a style that directly addresses prospective and current team members.

Employee Experience
Over a two-year period, Culture Chameleon designed, and supported Wagada to embed, a Values-based employee experience. This included:
- Completing a Workplace Culture Review to unpick Wagada’s culture from an internal and external perspective and identify areas of focus to enable the business to successfully move forward
- Redefining the employee experience offered by Wagada to embed the Values across all employee touchpoints including attraction, selection, onboarding and leaving.
As a result, direct hiring increased and recruitment costs decreased. Prospective team members have a strong feel for Wagada’s culture before they even come for interview. They receive a high volume of speculative job applications and have an ever-increasing number of prospective employees following them across multiple social media platforms.
